I. MISSION

A top brand builder for CICAF, Golden Monkey King Awards stands for a contest prestigious to all cartoonists and animated program makers and their enthusiasts worldwide, in which all entries and artworks to manifest a good future and destiny of human beings, as decent, orchestrated, and particularly out of original thinking, are encouraged and celebrated. We wish the Awards as an event to bring more people an access to cartoon and animated features, make the business a gold mine, find more young artists, and steer the way for the whole industry in China to transformation, upgrading and sustainable development. Entries we consider excellent will be recommended to show and play at the session for networking.

III. MEET THE JUDGES

Awards Committee: We have the Awards Committee to select, vote for and present the awards. Under the Committee there is the Secretariat to perform all duties specifically as required.

Panel of Judges: We have two panels of judges under the Awards Committee responsible for the preliminaries and the final, and both composed of experts from academic, press, publication and industrial communities in China and elsewhere in the world.

Notes：A judge in business contact with the author(s) of the entries, either directly or indirectly, shall waive the rights of serving the panel in case of conflicts of interest. The Awards Committee reserves the right to leave an award empty-handed or cut the number of winners for an award if necessary.

V. AWARDS & PRIZES

Please refer to as below the General Award and the Promising Award to be presented in the Golden Monkey King Awards 2020.

XI. ELIGIBILITY OF ENTRIES

The General Award

Entries that were not submitted as the same category to the previous Golden Monkey King Awards shall be allowed to join the contest in case the extra requirements are met as follows.

1. An animated feature film that has obtained the Film Screening License issued by National Radio and Television Administration by/before March 1, 2020; or

2. An animated series that has obtained the Domestic Animated Series Distribution License issued by the provincial authority, or have been publicly screened in mainland China by/before March 1, 2020; or

3. An animated short film made by animation companies, studios or college teachers (entries made by students may sign up for either the General Award or the Promising Award); or

4. A comic entry that has been published (as a separate publication) by/before March 1, 2020.

The Promising Award

Entries that were not submitted as the same category to the previous Golden Monkey King Awards shall be allowed to join the contest in case the extra requirements are met as follows.

1. An animated short film that has been completed; or

2. A comic entry that has NOT been published (as a separate publication).

XII. WHAT TO SUBMIT

Please sign up on our website gma.cicaf.com and submit files and documents as required.

 (一)The General Award

1．Animated Feature Film

①Upload the complete version of the entry in MP4 format (with subtitles in both Chinese and English for conversations in the film).

②Upload a 30-sec film clip in MP4 format.

③Upload a printed copy of the Film Screening License.

④Upload a photo of the entry’s director, together with five screenshots and one or two posters of the entry (60cm*80cm min.) in JPG format.

2．Animated Series

① Upload two episodes or more of the entry in MP4 format (with subtitles in both Chinese and English for conversations in the series).

② Upload a 30-sec film clip in MP4 format.

③Upload a printed copy of the Domestic Animated Series Distribution License or any documentary/video evidence that certifies the entry’s screening via local media in mainland China.

④Upload a photo of the entry’s director, together with five screenshots and one or two posters of the entry (60cm*80cm min.) in JPG format.

3．Animated Short Film

① Upload the complete version of the entry in MP4 format.

② Upload a 30-sec film clip in MP4 format.

③Upload a photo of the entry’s director, together with five screenshots and one or two posters of the entry (60cm*80cm min.) in JPG format.

4．Comics

①Upload a digital copy of the entry (as a separate publication) in PDF format (watermark allowed).

②Upload a photo of the entry’s author, together with five screenshots and one or two posters of the entry (60cm*80cm min.) in JPG format.

(二) The Promising Award

1．Animated Short Film

① Upload the complete version of the entry in MP4 format.

② Upload a 30-sec film clip in MP4 format.

③Upload a photo of the entry’s director, together with five screenshots and one or two posters of the entry (60cm*80cm min.) in JPG format.

2．Comics

① Upload a digital copy of the entry in PDF format.

② Upload the complete version of the script.

③Upload a photo of the entry’s author, together with five screenshots and one or two posters of the entry (60cm*80cm min.) in JPG format.

XIII. TERMS & CONDITIONS

All entries shall abide by the following rules:

1. The entry shall be exempt from any pornographic, violent and bloody scenario or anything to insult a religion.

2. Each contestant shall either have the copyright of the entry or be authorized by the copyright owner in a written form. The contestant shall be disqualified from the Awards and bear full legal consequences thereof in the event of plagiarism or unauthorized use of copyright.  

3. An entry that was signed up for the Golden Monkey King Awards in previous years shall not be allowed to sign up as the same category.

4. All entries signed up for this Golden Monkey King Awards are required to be finalized by/before the end of February, 2020.   

5. Signing up for the Golden Monkey King Awards shall be deemed as the recognition to leave your entry into the CICAF collection for showcase or publicity. Your entry shall in principle not be returned, or it could be shipped back at your request provided you would bear the costs of shipment.   

IX. WHAT’S FOR NOMINEES AND WINNERS

Nominees will be invited by the Awards Committee to attend CICAF 2020 with bonuses as below.

1．On-site promotional events will be made for award nominees during the whole festival.

2.Sessions for networking with investors will be held for award winners.  

3．Two-night accommodation for two contestants (a standard room), together with their meals and other privileges in Hangzhou, will be provided on Apr. 29 and 30, 2020.

4．Two VIP badges and several tickets for CICAF sessions and events will be provided for each nominee.  

5．An Album of Award-winning Entries will be given to each winner.

X. AWARDS CEREMONY & PRESENTATION

1．The Golden Monkey King Awards will be presented during CICAF 2020.

2. The judges and contestants with a nominee entry will be invited to join the awards ceremony.  

3. Prize winners unable to attend the ceremony may authorize someone else to receive the award on their behalf. In this case, a written power of attorney and a copy of ID card or passport of the prize winner(s) shall be submitted to the Awards Committee before the ceremony.

4. The Organizing Committee will contact all prize winners in no longer than three weeks after the awards ceremony or the CICAF 2020 as a whole. All prizes as above are provided in a pre-tax amount. A prize not being collected within 2 months shall be cancelled as a waiver from the prize winner.

XI. LEGAL STATEMENT

All issues regarding the Golden Monkey King Awards will be addressed strictly in line with the rules of the Awards Committee specified above. All contestants in the Golden Monkey King Awards shall be deemed to have acknowledged and accepted these rules once their entries were signed up. The legality of the entries must be ensured by their authors, producers, publishers and other relevant agencies, yet the Awards Committee shall be exempt from all legal disputes arising from the entries but in no relation with the Golden Monkey King Awards. The rules of the Awards Committee in Chinese version shall prevail in case of any conflict or dispute arising from the bilingual translation of them, and the rules shall take effect upon the date when they are released.

We reserve the right for final explanation.
